Now that Buffy has announced its end with the moving on of Sarah Gellar I was just wondering what do people predict for the Buffy actors future? Here's my 2 cents...
SMG:Romantic Comedies for about 8 years (a few with Freddie Prince Jr), fewer roles as time goes by. Gradually more insults about her time on Buffy and how she hated the show. Divorce, new marriage, divorce, boy toy, more rom-coms, quits acting to 'take care of her family' (cure long term drug addiction/alcoholism/S&M problem)
Alison Hannigan: After her third American pie movie some actual career progression from Alyson. Has a few acclaimed movies but never quite hits the Nicole Kidman height of fame because of her unconventional looks i.e. not a friggin supermodel! Many serious movies with good performances but few blockbusters.
James Marsters: Little success with his band will lead to a few appearences on crappy shows whilst waiting for the big role that could make him a real player in tinseltown. sadly he will miss the boat that his Buffy success could have offered and his talent goes back to stage work and independent film. Happy with his comfortable finances he never pushes for that big success by doing a very poor blockbuster(scooby doo). rarely seen after Buffy (sadly)
Tony Head: returns to England awaiting the proposed Ripper. Makes many tv appearances in the UK and becomes a true household name. Ripper is never made and his star gradually fades in America as he is left on the cutting room floor. Happy to spend time raising his children with the financial security granted by Buffy, does whatever he wants whilst never becoming a big success in Hollywood terms.
Nicholas Brendan: Oh dear. eagerly anticipating the day Buffy would finish so he can get the hell away from that freakshow NB sees a bright future before him. After becoming a regular on many sh*t sitcoms and terrible straight to video C movies, he is forced to sell his big house and live more modestly, doing the convention circuit when not stretching himself on more poor tv work. he hates his career and wishes for the days when he had the quality writing of Buffy to deliver onscreen. his weight continues to spin wildly upwards and when he gets his problem under control some measure of success is achieved with cult light comedy spoofs.
Michelle Trachenberg: Could go anywhere from where I stand. No idea. Huge potential, watch her space...
Joss Whedon: after he abandones the Buffyverse leaving Angel to Marti Noxon and never creating Ripper. Joss moves to movies where he makes several big budget movies for Fox, some bomb, some are well recieved critically, but not commercially and a few are hits just allowing him to break even. He instead makes a few more low key movies that are solidly written and is given a chance to direct. Success follows, whilst never winning an acadamy award or being compared to hitchthingy he is well liked and becomes a serious player in Hollywood occasionally working with former Buffy cast members in an attempt to help there careers-this fails, badly.
See more next week with my crystal ball looking into the cast of Angel's future...
