...........:::::::::::::::THIS MESSAGE EXPLAINS THE DAWN SITUATION IF YOU DONT WANNA KNOW PLEASE DONT READ:::::::::::::::.......................
Some one has asked whats Dawn all about, well here it goes. This may be a little confusing.
Dawn appears in the first episode of Sesaon 5, but by episode 2 we see that people have known here for a lot longer.
This is because Dawn has ALWAYS been there. Everones mind has been changed to make them believe that Dawn was there since Season One Episode One.
Why did they have there minds changed, I hear you ask.
Well the thing is Dawn is not Buffy's sister. Infact Dawn is not even real. She is "The Key." a very old object that has been changed into human form and placed as Dawn Summers so that the Slayer will protect it. Dawn has no idea that she is "The Key" and believes that she is a 14 year old, sister of Buffy.
Buffy must protect "The Key" from Glory, the Season 5 Big Bad!
Well thats what Dawn's all about!

Yes, but how good a job did the monks do, with The Beast knocking on their gate? Does Buffy's father know Dawn exists? Does Angel remember her? Has she got a birth certificate?
Now that Dawn is human, her body will presumably last a lifetime, but what about the memories? Adam was pretty confident that "these magics" crumble under their own weight pretty soon, and that must be true. Otherwise every petty hedge wizard could change everyone's memories every day. And that, fellow fans, would be the end of continuity.

I think the monks did what they wanted to do. EVERYONES memory was changed.
If you watch "Forever" Buffy talks to Angel and mentions Dawn. He doesn't turn around and ask who is Dawn. And I am also sure that Willow would have told Angel how and why Buffy died.

Adam was pretty confident he could kick Buffy's ass, look where that got him, don't believe everything a strange Frankenstein monster wannabe Tony Robbins lookalike says, he could be just blowing smoke up your ass

I think the monks did what they wanted to do. EVERYONES memory was changed. I think you might be right. So good-night continuity. Unless our memories (and videos) are also constantly changing. That's a thought to spin your head. And talking about the monks, lucky for the good guys that Glory's an idiot. It seems to me that she followed the surviving monk to Sunnydale - she never mentioned another reaon. You could argue that she just came to use the Key, but I think she would have found the Key first. The last thing the monk is doing before Glory captures him is marking up a streetmap - presumably of Sunnydale - presumably circling Buffy's address, so he could go and tell her all about the Key. If Glory had had the attention span of a mayfly, or just the sense to search the monk's belongings, things would have got a lot worse a lot faster.
