Do vamps have last names? I'm thinking back to that ep. Something Blue in season 4 where Buffy and Spike thought they were getting married, and they were discussing wedding invitations. That got me thinking, does Spike even have a last name? I've never heard one vamp name ever except for the Gorch Brothers. What would that make Buffy? Mrs. Buffy Spike? or Mr. Spike Summers. Can you get married if you un-dead?

Interesting thought I must admit.
hhhhmmmmm. A Vampire with a last name. They must have to have last names but many seem to just go to a nickname after they have been Vamped like Angel (Angelus), Spike, Mr Trick, The Master etc etc etc.
As for the married thing yet again another hhhhmmm. To be honest I dont think they would be able to get married because any person of religious significance that we have seen seems to be able to recognise Vamps better than Buffy can. Remember the nun in that Angel episode? I think a Vampire would like to get married if only to mock "God."
Thats my take on it.

Perhaps its due to them leaving their mortal lives behind when they die... so they rename themselves, like being reborn in a sense.
With the marrage thing, i would say it depends on how you get married. as with the jewish peoples everything no matter it being good or evil has a soul and that soul is seen the same no matter what by god, so i spose a rabbi would marry vampires. al the others would most likly cry and ran away...

I suppose it has something to do with a preconception of a name.
When someone says "Angelus/The Master/Drusilla is coming!" It has a lot more impact than "Andy is on his way, you know, Andy Parker, he's really in a radge!"
I believe it has to do with confidence/arrogance that comes with being a vampire. I'm one tough b*stard, and I want everyone who hears of me to know it, I want a rep baby cause I'm bad-to-the-bone.
On the topic of vampire marriage, I think it can happen. Marriage is merely entering into a union with someone before the sight of god, providing you believe in God (lets assume that people in the Buffyverse do) there shouldn't be a problem with an actual vampire marriage per se.
No where does it say in the vows "and I shall promise to worship God forever", just that I believe god exists and I am so serious about my partner I wish to be joined with them before the almighty himself to prove my love.
Of course marriage in a church is a different matter, fear of crosses and all that. ;D

I guess that makes since w/ the last names and stuff...but again about the marriage. Now don't quote me on this cuz i've ever gotten married so i have no idea...but don't you need a birth certificate or some sort of official document like that to get married? I would assume something like a birth certificate from a vampire's previous life isn't something they carry around just in case they ever feel like getting married . But again, i have no idea if u need an official document of some sort or not...if not maybe its just an american thing, or maybe i'm just retarded ;D
